ChopValue Expands Southeast Asia Operations to Johor, Malaysia, Strengthening Circular Manufacturing Capabilities in the Region
VANCOUVER, CANADA — October 23, 2024 — ChopValue, the leading circular manufacturer for commercial-grade solutions, proudly announces the launch of its newest Southeast Asia Microfactory in Johor, Malaysia. This new location allows the company to significantly scale its regional production in Johor Bahru and Singapore, addressing the growing need for sustainable furniture for corporate offices, hospitality partners, with new and existing partnerships including Muji, Marina Bay Sands, and Google.
The Johor Microfactory is overseen by Justin Lee, who also manages the operation of ChopValue in Singapore. As the Singapore location has reached full capacity, the Johor expansion enables ChopValue to magnify their positive impact of transforming urban waste streams into climate positive products. Positioned just 45 minutes from Singapore’s first facility, the Johor Microfactory serves as a strategic complement that enables smooth collaboration and efficient production across both locations.
“This expansion is a reflection of the rising demand for responsibly sourced, locally produced sustainable products in Southeast Asia," said Justin, General Manager of the Johor Microfactory. "Our proximity to Singapore, combined with Malaysia’s skilled labor and strong tradition in furniture manufacturing, positions us to better serve our clients and scale our circular impact."
"Opening in Malaysia is deeply personal and incredibly exciting for me,” added Evelyn Hew, Managing Director of ChopValue Singapore. “Bringing ChopValue to my home country, especially after the success we've had in Singapore, is a full-circle experience. With just a 1km causeway linking our two countries, it feels like we're sharing our journey with a close neighbor."
Malaysia has long been recognized as a key player in the global furniture industry, both pre- and post-COVID, supplying essential building materials to Singapore. The Johor Microfactory will tap into the local talent pool, leveraging skilled labor and trade expertise to maintain high production standards while contributing to Malaysia’s thriving community of hardworking professionals.
This also marks ChopValue’s first Microfactory in Malaysia as part of a strategic partnership with KIAN, a global leader in furniture manufacturing, to fulfill their growing need for climate positive solutions. Plans are already in motion for a second Microfactory in Kuala Lumpur, located closer to KIAN's headquarters, further cementing ChopValue’s commitment to scaling sustainable manufacturing partnerships in the region.
