We are seeking to grow our team with a permanent, full-time position forPrecision Fabricator for Laser Cutting. Our ideal candidate has extensive technical expertise in laser cutting and engraving, product prototyping made of natural, wooden materials and has experience with using related software. As the Precision Fabricator in the field of Laser Cutting, you play a key role in both the Design and Concept team and Order Fulfilment team for processing, prototyping, assembling, cutting and engraving products from our innovative material which is locally processed and sourced from recycled chopsticks. This position will ultimately support our growth plans of scaling production and order fulfillment capacities with the technical know-how to develop and cross-train internally. 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Specialize in the operation of the Trotec laser machine including the use of JobControl and CorelDraw softwares, set up, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Clean and maintain proper use of laser machine daily and its surrounding areas
  • Train existing team on laser cutting and engraving and its related software for identified applications and products
  • Rapid precision prototyping of new innovative laser cutting and engraving designs, templates and applications
  • Achieve daily goals specified by production management and order fulfilment team
  • Look for ways to improve and streamline our processes while checking for quality and managing accurate inventory levels 
  • Consult with Product Manager and Sustainability Architect to better understand project scope and client requirements  
  • Support business and market expansions through development of franchise documents and standard procedures for laser cutting and engraving, and develop drawings and templates for scalability across Canadian manufacturing locations
  • Have an understanding and awareness of the ERP system, monitor production flow, order lead times, and assess impact on inventory

The Ideal Applicant:

  • Laser cutting and precision prototyping knowledge from design conceptualization to implementation using laser machine including operating and safety procedures 
  • Minimum education in design required, we are more interested in your background developing your own brand or entrepreneurial experience
  • Previous joinery, woodworking, carpentry or manufacturing experience an asset
  • Has exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Works well with a team, excellent in communicating
  • Takes initiative and leadership in a team environment, strong sense for taking on responsibilities in a self sufficient and self responsible way
