We are a team of makers, designers and engineers who harvest our urban environment for the most under-utilized resources to new value added, innovative products.

We are seeking to grow our team with a permanent, full-time position forPrecision Fabricator for Lighting Design. Our ideal candidate has extensive technical expertise in precision prototyping and product development for lighting design made of natural, wooden materials and has experience with go to market strategies of such. As the Precision Fabricator in the field of Lighting Design, you play a key role in both the Design and Concept team and Production team for processing, building, assembling, and designing lighting products from our innovative material which is locally processed and sourced from recycled chopsticks. This position will ultimately support our growth plans of expanding our product portfolio and scaling production of lighting products to meet requirements of our largest clients.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials using woodshop tools including planer, sander, table saw, chop saw, and hand woodworking tools
  • Achieve daily goals specified by production management
  • Look for ways to improve and streamline our process
  • Consult with Product Manager and Sustainability Architect to better understand project scope and client requirements  
  • Carry out testing and quality checks throughout production process 
  • Keeping the shop clean, tidy and clutter free
  • Train existing team on production guidelines and manufacturing for identified applications 
  • Support business and market expansions of commercial lighting through development of new product portfolio (including development of drawings, renderings, animations, plans and templates for scalability across Canadian manufacturing locations)
  • Rapid precision prototyping of new lighting designs adopted to the needs of the North American market 

The Ideal Applicant:

  • Has previous joinery, woodworking, carpentry or manufacturing experience
  • Lighting design and precision prototyping knowledge from conceptualization to implementation including certification and market implementation procedures
  • Minimum education in design required, we are more interested in your background developing your own brand or entrepreneurial experience
  • Has exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Works well with a team, excellent in communicating
  • Takes initiative and leadership in a team environment, strong sense for taking on responsibilities in a self sufficient and self responsible way
